First of all, the first 2 miles and 1800 feet of elevation sucked rocks.  Run and powerwalk was the name of the game.  I was questioning why I was even interested in the marathon anymore and or the 21k trail we are thinking of doing in California,  however the scenery was beautiful, the downhill was dangerous and fun and the finish sweet.  I am not sure I was first in the over 40 division but I think so since it was just me and one or two other guys that I know finished after.  Small crowd but fun in the trailrun circuit.  Down hill miles 4 and 5 were in the 6:34 to 6:48 range for me, which is a record for this duffer.

Tru dat, but when you are running over a mountain - you gotta take what it gives you. Alderon chunks (as muffin is being smashed apart) everywhere...
